History Day News!

The National History Day competition is now over. Chris and Joey did an outstanding job presenting and answering the questions posed to them by the judges. Chris received an award for Outstanding State Entry in the Junior Division. MQA is very proud of Chris and Joey and they are both big winners in our eyes!  

Chris is ranked 4th in the Nation and Joey is ranked 11th in the Nation! Congratulations on a job well done!

 

 

  • Congratulations are to be extended to all the National History Day participants who traveled to Millersville University this week for Pennsylvania National History Day. Thanks to their families, our faculty helpers, and congratulations to our NHD advisors, Mrs. Quade and Mrs. Casper.

    MQA was well-represented with our students giving 110% in their work and showing tremendous poise and knowledge in answering the questions presented them by the project judges. Thanks to Richard /Nathan , Natalie /Kathryn , Sarah Jane , Cody , Giuliana , Cecily , and Jacob Rayburg for their efforts and excellence.

    We did have three entries earning state awards with one earning a special award. Two of them will represent PA at National History Day. Students earning a place award continue to Pennsylvania's National History Day state competitions with place winners competing with students across the nation at the University of Maryland.

    Christopher is our state's first place awardee in junior individual documentary for his extensive research and moving presentation, "'If the Sun Comes Up Tomorrow, It Is Only Because of Men of Good Will:' The Conflicts and Compromises of the Cuban Missile Crisis."

    Joseph is our state's first place awardee in junior historical paper for his work entitled, "The Homestead Strike of 1892: A Story of Social Conflict in Industrial America." His paper also won a National History Day PA award presented by the Pennsylvania Heritage Society for the best junior paper on Pennsylvania history. Both Joseph and the school was given a $100 gift from the PHS.

    An Honorable Mention was given to Chloe , Paige , Courtney , and Katherine for their group performance, "The Compromise fo Traditional Female Roles: Southern Women Who Witnessed Sherman's March to the Sea."

    Pujol and Staniszewski will represent Pennsylvania at National History Day in June.

  • Congratulations to all the students who entered projects in the National History Day Regionals. All 15 projects are listed since all 15 projects were exceptional. 30 high/middle schools participated and three awards were given to each category.
