The Arts at MQA

Fine Arts at MQA includes a weekly art class for grades one through eight, music classes twice a week for grades kindergarten through three, a weekly music class or intermediate chorus for grades four through six, and an option for music credit in grades seven and eight. To earn a music credit, seventh and eighth grade students may elect band, chorus, or music exploration for the year.
MQA offers instrumental lessons for students in grades two through eight. An instrumental teacher comes to the sites to teach students. Additionally, MQA has a band. Students in grades four through eight may audition for the band. Students in band are required to perform in three concerts and a Christmas concert tour.
MQA has an intermediate chorus for grades four through six and a select chorus for grades seven and eight. Students in chorus are required to perform in two concerts.
There are two musical concerts each year. A Christmas concert is presented by students in kindergarten through grade three, with participation from the band and both choral groups. The spring concert is also a band and choral concert.
Students in grades four through eight may participate in a spring musical through auditions. Support roles in set, costume, and public relations are offered in addition to the acting and singing.
Two extra-curricular fine arts programs are offered, too. Young Rembrandts offers after school art classes to students in kindergaten through grade three at the Freeport Road Site. The Sisters of Charity and Seton Hill College offers a Saturday program at the Leishman Avenue Site for students in grades three through eight. The Seton Arts Service Corps program includes art, music, and drama. Both programs require registration.
