The 6th grade class at Mary Queen of Apostles School in New Kensington has formed a team, The MQA KNIGHTS, to participate in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. The relay will be held at Memorial Park in New Kensington from 10:00am Saturday August 2nd to 10:00am Sunday August 3rd.This event raises money for cancer research and assist local individuals who are battling cancer. The students have currently raised over $3,000 through the following fund raising projects: the sale of cancer awareness bracelets, the collection of donations after mass from the sponsoring parishes of the school, donations of pledge money, and the sale of Valos Candy. Future fund raising events include a car wash scheduled for June 28th behind the Valos Candy Store on Freeport Road in Arnold, sale of delicious snacks at the relay, and a raffle for prints of a Pittsburgh Steeler and Penguin Player drawn by a local artist.
The team slogan is, “Help the MQA Knights Tell Cancer Goodnight”. They will be proudly wearing their personalized team shirt which states that they are ”U-Knighted to Fight Cancer”. Please support the MQA Knights and the American Cancer Society in the Relay for Life.

- Congratulations to the MQA Knightbots. Our school participated in May Madness Robotics Competition sponsored by CMU's Robotics Academy. There were 25 teams that participated in the event. The team was judged on a research presentation, the software programming done by the students, the robot's design or hardware, and for robotic performance on the tabletop missions. This year's missions were based on Mr. Roger's Neighborhood. They included moving the robot to deliver and retrieve items, moving the robot to hit levers, and even having the robot "read" colors and play a tune! Our presentation crew included Sam , C.J. , Josh , David , and Austin. Our robotics crew included Cailin , Thomas , Gabe , Ricky , Ben , and Zachary.
