Parent Volunteer Opportunities
An important part of Mary Queen of Apostles School is our volunteer program. We rely on our volunteers and recognize the valuable contribution they make as members of our school community. If you are able to share your time and talents and love of children with us, we welcome you!
Below are the descriptions of the various opportunities available. To volunteer click on the link below:
VOLUNTEER HERE!
Cafeteria Server
Lunch servers arrive by 10:00 to help prepare food, ready the serving line for the lunch groups, and serve food to each lunch group. The servers help with cleanup as well. Indicate if you have a preference for FRS or LAS or both.
FRS Lunchroom Monitor
Lunch monitors are needed at the FRS site to distribute condiments, napkins, and utensils and to help the younger children open milk cartons or butter bread. Duties include wiping the tables to prepare for the next lunch group. Lunch monitor also takes students who need more time for eating to the outdoor playground. Lunch monitors arrive by 11:00. A parent volunteer schedules lunchroom monitors.
Recess Monitor
Recess monitors arrive by 11:00 and report to the cafeteria. Recesses are approximately 15 minutes in length. There are three recess groups per site. All students go outside for recess. If we have inclement weather, we will have indoor recess. At FRS children use pedometers and walk the halls counting their steps for the year. Sometimes students at FRS are permitted to remain in their seats and talk, draw, play games, etc. Students at LAS go outside for recess. During inclement weather, they use the gym for indoor recess. Indicate if you have a preference volunteering at FRS or LAS or both. A parent volunteer schedules recess monitors at each site.
Sports
Volunteers are needed to man the doors and concession stands during home stands in all sports. The money collected during these events pay the referees and help to keep the costs associated with running the program manageable.
