My MQA journey began in 6th grade at this close-knit Catholic grade school, where I developed a strong foundation in faith, discipline, ethics, and a commitment to hard work. These values have guided me throughout the remainder of my education and professional life. From an early age, I was drawn to understanding how things work, which naturally led me to pursue opportunities that combined both problem-solving and practical application. MQA helped to feed and develop these interests by offering unique and impactful academics and activities, some of the most memorable being the pre-engineering program, National History Day, PJAS, and the basketball team.
MQA prepared me very well for the rest of my academic journey through high school, college, and postgraduate education. I was well prepared to enter the workforce and start with Covestro, building hands-on experience in roles that emphasized operations, logistics, customer service, and sales. Over time, I have sharpened my skills across multiple industries, learning how to work efficiently under pressure, adapt to different environments, and contribute meaningfully to team success. Today, I am proud to work in the materials supply industry, where I serve as part of a team that provides high-quality materials and service to automotive manufacturers across the globe.
Throughout my career and personal life, I’ve tried to remain grounded in the values instilled in me from an early age at MQA – an appreciation for learning, the importance of virtuous character, and the necessity of strong faith.
Principal, Cathy Collett, recalls Joe’s years at Mary Queen of Apostles School. He was an intrinsically motivated student who loved to learn and enjoyed sports. While maintaining highest honors academically, he also chose to compete in Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science and Pittsburgh Regional Science and Engineering Fair earning awards in both. He also competed in National History Day using a local event, the Homestead Strike of 1892. Joe is still remembered for being kind, faithful, and smiling.
